Media Integration Middleware

We at NEC conduct research and development and promote the standardization of a media information integration platform by analyzing and integrating various kinds of media information such as speech, image, text, and sensor data.

This platform consists of engines that recognize image (face recognition, human behavior analysis, etc.) and recognize and synthesize speech, engines that process various kinds of sensor information, such as RFID, and middleware to integrate all this information, and we aim to use it to build low-cost media integration and utilization systems. Specifically, we are developing technologies in the following areas.

  1. Media integration framework that standardizes the method of data exchange among analysis engines and applications
  2. Middleware that provides common functions for media analysis applications, such as engine controllers to analyze large amounts of media stream data in real time, large-volume heterogeneous analysis data management and cross-searching
  3. Application and engine development environments including development libraries

Through these research and development activities, we are establishing a foundation for the creation of new information value, and we are contributing to the creation of a society that is friendly to humans and the earth.
