About Data Mining and Business Analysis Technology Group
We, Data Mining and Business Analysis group in NEC Knowledge Discovery Laboratories, are conducting researches on data mining technologies focusing on extracting valuable information from a large amount of data.
It has become essential in many businesses to make decisions based on information discovered from BigData. Data mining and machine learning are one of key technologies for advanced data analytics.
Our technologies have evolved through making the following progresses.
- Theoretical development in the information-theoretic learning theory
- Development of data mining engines
- Establishment of data mining processes for business applications
The first activity is research of fundamental principles to invent novel data mining algorithms. We are studying algorithm designs and data modeling methods based on information theory and mathematical statistics.
The second is development of effective and scalable data mining algorithms and the software products by using the result of the first activities. The following is a selected list of data mining engines we developed.
The last step is technology transfer of the aforementioned research and development states to real-world business applications.We are developing practical data mining processes, and also try to create new business opportunities in which data analysis and knowledge discovery are very important factors.
