Issue prior to introduction
- Data backup takes a long time.
- Tapes are used in addition to NAS, and tapes take up much space on racks.
- Is it possible to create backups in a more compact and faster way?
Solution and result
- The NEC Storage NV series use 2 Gbps FC-AL disk drives to realize high availability and high reliability.
- With the virtual tape library function, disk backup can be made within the device.
- Due to the functional link with NAS, the snapshot function can be used to manage differential data (up to the 255th generation).
- By shifting the backup method to the disk backup method, including differential data backup and full backup, operations will be simplified and backup performance will be greatly improved.
