Certification for VxVM and VCS
VxVM(*1) is storage management software that allows you to logically separate And/or integrate physical disks in NEC Storage. VxVM supports DMP(*2) function. When used with NEC Storage and a server connected by more than one Fibre Channel path, the DMP function can automatically switch to a normal path without interrupting operations when a certain path suffers a breakdown.
The linkage between the disk array and the software should be ensured to make the DMP function work properly. For this, NEC and Symantec jointly made evaluations of the software and conducted tests to ensure that the software works under any circumstance. Due to these efforts, NEC Storage acquired Symantec certification for the softwares.
VCS(*3) is software used with a cluster configuration of more than one server. It can automatically switch to a normal path without interrupting operations when a certain server suffers a breakdown. To realize a more advanced, reliable system, the combined use of NEC Storage with VxVM and VCS was tested and approved by Symantec.
