SAM-FS connection verification using NEC Storage

Archive function

Objective To check that the archive function of SAM-FS with NEC Storage connected operates automatically as well as properly.
Test procedure
  1. Create a samfs file system for SAM-FS in LUN on NEC Storage, and as a location for disk archiving, create a ufs file system in LUN on NEC Storage.
  2. Specify archiving duration.
  3. Continuously register data in the samfs file system.
  4. After the archiving duration is over, check that an archive was automatically created in the ufs file system.
Result No problems were found.

Release function

Objective To check that the release function of SAM-FS with NEC Storage connected operates automatically as well as properly.
Test procedure
  1. Create a samfs file system for SAM-FS in LUN on NEC Storage, and as a location for disk archiving, create a ufs file system in LUN on NEC Storage.
  2. Specify a release range (high watermark and low watermark) and weight size.
  3. Continuously register data in the samfs file system.
  4. Confirm that the area of archived data is automatically released when the area of use in the samfs file system exceeds the high watermark so that the area of use in the samfs file system decreases.
Result No problems were found.
Objective

Staging function

Objective To check that the staging function of SAM-FS with NEC Storage connected operates automatically as well as properly.
  4. Confirm that data was released because the area of use in the samfs file system exceeded the high watermark (already confirmed in the release function above).
  5. Confirm that the data becomes automatically staged and accessible by accessing the release data in the samfs file system.
Result No problems were found.
Staging

Recycling function

Objective To check that the staging function of SAM-FS with NEC Storage connected operates automatically as well as properly.
Test procedure
  1. Create a samfs file system for SAM-FS in LUN on NEC Storage, and as a location for disk archiving, create a ufs file system in LUN on NEC Storage.
  2. Specify a recycling range (high watermark) in the archiving location, the maximum recyclable volume, and the area that will become available after recycling.
  3. Continuously register data in the samfs file system (for creating an archive after a certain period of time).
  4. Update data in samfs (for re-creating an archive after a certain period of time).
  5. Check beforehand that the archiving location fulfills the recycling settings.
  6. Execute the sam-recycler command and confirm that the usage rate in the archiving location becomes lower.
Result No problems were found.
