Data volumes on NAS can be replicated in the SAN system without affecting the business operation in process. High speed backup is made possible by SAN's wide band. Backup can be created using the same environment and procedures as SAN, reducing the cost of operation management and using the backup resource effectively. Large amount of data can be duplicated quickly.
Capacity management for SAN and NAS integration
Capacity management for SAN/NAS integration is performed using the dynamic pool function*1 of the NEC Storage S series which enables flexible capacity expansion. The total capacity can be reduced by cutting waste, with SAN and NAS sharing common resources. It also makes it possible to respond flexibly to sudden changes in capacity.

SAN/NAS integration can be used for disaster recovery, using SAN's remote replication function that creates replicas of data in different cabinets in remote locations.
