Key benefits
- DWDM technology enables transmission up to 6.4Tbps per fiber pair
- Cost‐effective solution for transmission distances in excess of 400km, with no electronics in the transmission line
- Transport high‐capacity DWDM signals for connecting mainland to island, island to island, etc.
- Also applicable for long‐haul terrestrial systems, such as connecting a cable landing point to a metropolitan area POP
- Upgrade of existing cable (terrestrial or submarine)
- Provides ultra long‐reach solution for growing capacity demands

In‐line Remote Pre‐Amplifier IRPA
The In‐line Remote Pre‐Amplifier enables extra‐long transmission distances without requiring electrical power. High power 1480nm wavelength light transmitted from the reception side of the LTE excites the Erbium‐doped fiber (EDF) in the Remote Amplifier, which thereby amplifies the transmission signal. This 1480nm wavelength is transmitted in the same fiber used for transmission of the main signal, without requiring any additional fibers for transmittng the pumping power.
Key features
- Needs no electrical power
- 1480nm pumping laser amplifies the transmission signal by exciting the EDF (Erbium‐doped fiber) in the IRPA
- Pumping signal is transmitted over the same fiber pair used for transmission, requiring no additional fiber
- Accommodates up to 8 systems (fiber pairs)
