Technical Details

Function Description
Self-service portal As its standard feature, MasterScope Cloud Manager provides a portal window that allows accessible information and menu operations to be controlled individually for each administrator and service user authority level. The portal can be customized by rearranging user interface components.
User management User accounts and groups of administrators and service users, as well as the authorities to view and operate those accounts and groups, are managed.
Service catalog management The services available to service users and the ICT resources comprising those services are managed in conjunction with the service prices and levels. Service-related documents can be registered as well.
Service request management Once a service purchase request from a service user is received, a series of requests from resource provisioning to activation (deployment complete) are managed.
Contract information management Services and resources are managed in conjunction with the information about the service usage contract information between the administrator and service user (service contents, contract status, contract period, access point, etc.). It is also possible to reference the currently used resources based on the contract information.
Billing information output The information for billing service users is automatically gathered and accumulated. The accumulated information can be output in CSV format and provided to an external billing system.
Service instance management Menus are provided for service users to view the usage status of deployed virtual machines and perform basic operations (start/stop, backup (snapshot) creation, and restoration).

Self-service portal

MasterScope Cloud Manager provides an advanced management portal intended to manage the information necessary for cloud service provisioning, such as catalog information and contract information, as well as a self-service portal that service users can use to apply for the use of a virtual system and to operate that system.

By interacting with MasterScope Virtual DataCenter Automation, which automates infrastructure management and operation in a cloud environment, MasterScope Cloud Manager offers a cloud portal that is very convenient and very easy to operate.

User management

MasterScope Cloud Manager can grant each cloud environment user a level of authority appropriate for their role: cloud service administrator or cloud service user.
A set of user management functions are provided for group management, user addition, change, and deletion, and authority granting to enable clear segregation of duties.

Service catalog management

MasterScope Cloud Manager provides a service catalog detailing each service that is offered as a product.
A service catalog contains product information such as the specs and configuration information of the virtual machines and other resources that the IaaS provider sells to tenant users, price information, and an SLA and other attached documents.

A service catalog consists of "service templates" and "price settings".

Service template

This is used to manage the configuration information of a virtual machine, storage, network, etc.
The information set in this template is sent to MasterScope Virtual DataCenter Automation during provisioning and used as the parameters for virtual machine deployment.

Price setting

This is used to manage the selling price of the service provided to tenant users.
Its content is the service template information combined with the selling price.

Service catalog management

Service request management

The service request management functions are used to create virtual system deployment and reconfiguration requests based on the catalog information and manage a series of processes from inspection and approval using an approval workflow to automatic provisioning.

The following service request management functions are available.

New contract request

From the service catalogs published by the service provider, service users can select those that are necessary for their businesses. In addition to virtual machines, the service catalogs have networks and many other types of product registered in them. The virtual machine configuration of the CPU, memory, OS, and middleware, as well as the network configuration, can be customized flexibly.

Contract renewal request

Service users can make a request for the renewal of their service contract.
They can easily request a change to the configuration of the virtual machine or other component in the same way as when they make a new contract request via the service portal.

Contract cancellation request

Service users can make a request for the cancellation of their service contract.
They can request the contract cancellation in the same way as when they make a new contract request or contract renewal request via the service portal.

Deletion request

Service users can request the deletion of the virtual machine created through the interaction with the data center.

Approval workflow

By defining a specific route in advance, service users can have their requests routed for approval automatically.

Contract information management

One indispensable factor in cloud service provisioning is contract information management.
MasterScope Cloud Manager can manage two types of contract information. One is the information of the basic contract specifying the terms and conditions for the use of the self-service portal. The other is the information of the service contract, which is made for each service catalog transaction.

Basic contract
The basic contract is made between the service provider and service user.

Service contract
The service contract is made for each service catalog transaction between the IaaS provider that offers the service and the tenant administrator that uses that service. This contract is made on a per-VM or per-network basis.

With MasterScope Cloud Manager, the processes of making, renewing, and canceling the service contract are automated through service request management.
Also, the contract start date monitoring function, which automatically issues a contract start notification, allows the service contract to be managed without the intervention of the administrator.

Billing information output

The contract information for billing individual service users (service use contents and contract changes) is automatically gathered and accumulated on a user-by-user basis. The accumulated information can be output in CSV format and provided to an external billing system.

Service instance management

A set of service instance management functions is provided to view the usage status of each virtual machine built with a service request, perform power on/off operations, create a snapshot, and group multiple virtual machines on a per-instance basis for management purposes.

The following service instance management functions are available.

Usage status viewing

The list window shows the usage status of each virtual machine and other information necessary for operation and management. The detail window of a specific virtual machine displays the configuration of that machine and its latest performance data.

Power on/off operations

A virtual machine can be started, stopped, and restarted using the relevant buttons. The list window enables multiple virtual machines to be operated simultaneously.

Snapshot

After the setup of a virtual machine is completed or before a change is made to the existing virtual machine environment, a snapshot can be created. If an improper change makes the virtual machine unstable, it can readily be restored to the stable condition by using the snapshot.
A snapshot can be created, deleted, and restored using the relevant buttons.

General-purpose operation

This function enables IaaS providers and tenant administrators to execute the scenarios of MasterScope Virtual DataCenter Automation (e.g., backup) for service instance nodes.
