Ubiquitous Workstyle
In the “Ubiquitous Workstyle,” where employees interact with technology anywhere and at anytime, NEC has been working with Microsoft to provide innovative changes to the work process and the entire enterprise with Unified Communications and Collaboration products. To provide customers with more secure and user-friendly systems, NEC began investigating and evaluating Widows Server 2012 early on and has been developing products that incorporate the new features found in Windows Server 2012.
Express5800 Series
In partnership with Microsoft, NEC has proposed functional enhancements that improve power-savings and reliability. As a result, LPI (Logical Processor Idling) and MCA (Machine Check Architecture) Recovery features have been implemented in Windows Server 2012. We are testing those features on our Express 5800 server series to support them. LPI saves power by limiting the number of CPUs which run at any given time. MCA Recovery assists with continuous operations by isolating fatal hardware errors to minimize the extent of their impact. For example, if an error occurs in memory that a virtual machine is using, only this machine will be reset to minimize the impact on other virtual machines.
NEC Storage
NEC is investigating, testing and developing NEC storage products to utilize the Offload Data Transfer (ODX) and Thin Provisioning features of Windows Server 2012. ODX offloads data copying to the storage devices to speed up the process. Thin Provisioning manages the storage effectively by utilizing virtual disk space flexibly, not depending on physical space.
VirtualPCCenter
NEC’s thin client solution, “VirtualPCCenter,” has been enhanced to work with Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V®, including greater consolidation ratios and improved response time even on bandwidth constrained networks.
EXPRESSCLUSTER
NEC’s high availability software, “EXPRESSCLUSTER,” works to enhance functional collaboration with Hyper-V to improve the availability of virtual machines.
Programmable Flow
NEC ProgrammableFlow switch promotes OpenFlow support of Hyper-V vSwitch to provide flexible and scalable networks in a server virtualization environment.
