Total Eco Solution Collaboration with Windows Server 2012
NEC’s “Total Eco” offers an advanced, complete solution using ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to solve customer challenges related to power shortages, rising energy costs, and environmental regulations. NEC provides the “Total Eco” solution combined with the power-savings and high availability functions of Windows Server 2012 through a strong alliance with Microsoft®.
Power Saving Functions (LPI)
NEC Express5800 servers have a Power Capping feature which controls the total power consumption under a pre-established level. In addition, LPI (Logical Processor Idling) saves power based on the power savings policy.
High Availability Functions (MCA)
MCA (Machine Check Architecture) isolates and detaches a faulty component and provides system continuity. For example, in the case of memory errors on one virtual machine, MCA Recovery automatically reboots isolating the faulty component to minimize the impact on the system. Thus virtualization environments provide power savings plus more reliable and stable operations.
Advanced Data Transfer Function (ODX)
Offload Data Transfer (ODX) accelerates the data transfer between storage units without utilizing server resources. This reduces the server load, utilized I/O and memory. ODX also provides power savings. NEC Storage has been designed and evaluated to effectively utilize ODX.
