stex-3.6.0100.3_2.6.9-55.0.9.EL.i686.tar.gz 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL(smp/hugemem) - Errata

Please update the driver to these driver modules after installing RHEL OS.

[ How to install ]
1. Install the kernel RPM
     # rpm -ivh kernel-(smp/hugemem)-(kernel version).i686.rpm
     (ex. # rpm -ivh kernel-smp-2.6.9-55.0.9.EL.i686.rpm)

     *  It is not neccessary, if you install the kernel already.

2. Backup the current driver
     # cd /lib/modules/(kernel version)/kernel/drivers/scsi/
     # mv stex.ko stex.ko_org

3.  Store the downloaded driver into an arbitrary directory

4. Extract the downloaded driver
     # tar zxvf stex-(driver version)_(kernel version).i686.tar.gz

5. Install the extracted driver
     # tar zxvf stex_(kernel version).i686.tar.gz -C /
     (ex. # tar zxvf stex_2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp.i686.tar.gz -C /)

6. Create a dependent file to automatically start a loadable module
     # /sbin/depmod -aF /boot/System.map-(kernel version) (kernel version)
     (ex. # /sbin/depmod -aF /boot/System.map-2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp 2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp)

7. Create an image of the installed module
     # /sbin/mkinitrd /boot/initrd-(initrd of grub.conf) (kernel version)
     (ex. # /sbin/mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp.img 2.6.9-55.0.9.ELsmp)
     *  If there is already an image file created by mkinitrd, an error may
occur. Delete the file or use the "-f" option.
     *  If the message "/boot/initrd-xxxxxx.img already exists." appears, it

8. Reboot the systems
     # sync
     # reboot

[ After installation ]
After installing the RHEL4 Update 4 kernel driver, execute the following
command to make sure that the driver version has been changed:
    # cat /proc/scsi/stex/X

         environment you're using.
      * The driver version and date are shown in "x.x.x.x"respectively.
