§Update Version of MegaMonitor v3.7 (Version for Invalidating Mail Notification Function at Start-up)

<Important>
Check the version of MegaMonitor if you have already installed it on your machine. If the installed version is earlier than Ver. 3.7, apply this update version. For details on how to check the MegaMonitor version, refer to the "MegaMonitor for Linux Installation and Operation Manual" .
Even if you are running the MegaMonitor Ver.3.7, check if it is the latest version according to the "Checking Procedure" below since it is updated on November 1, 2005. If your MegaMonitor 3.7 is the earlier version, apply this update.

[Update Details]
MegaMonitor provides an event notification function to a root user through mail, however, depending on the user environment, there may be a case where a large amount of mail is notified. To prevent this, the MegaMonitor is modified to invalidate the mail notification function at start-up. The "MegaMonitor for Linux Installation & Operation Manual" describes that the mail notification funbction is invalidated at start-up, however, in the earlier versions of MegaMonitor, it is set to be valid.

[Checking Procedure]
1. Open the followig start-up script.
/etc/init.d/raidmon
2. Check whether or not the line prefixed by a right arrow () is present.
If the line prefixed by is not present, the MegaMonitor Ver. 3.7 is not the latest one.

chmod 644 /var/log/megaserv.log

MegaMonitor is a utility to monitor the disk array (hereafter referred to as array) controlled by N8103-73AF/80F/81F Disk Array Controllers and NEC Express5800/140He/140Rd-4 On-board RAID. MegaMonitor provides the following functions:
- Registering event logs generated on the array
- Event notification to a root user through mail (when mail notification is validated)
- Notification to NEC ESMPRO/Manager
- Schedule setting for consistency check

§ MegaManager Ver.5.18
MegaManager is a utility to maintain and manage the array controlled by the N8103-80F/81F Disk Array Controllers and NEC Express5800/140He/140 Rd-4 On-board RAID.
MegaMonitor is provided with such functions as to register event logs generated on the array, notify them to NEC ESMPRO/Manager, and set a schedule for consistency check. MegaManager allows you to configure an array on Linux OS, reference the current status, and perform system maintenance. However, MagaManager does not include the above Mega Monitor functions, we recommend you use MagaMonitor together with MegaManager as necessary.
