Linux on NEC Express5800

Linux, an operating system (OS) of open-source software, can be copied or distributed freely. These features of Linux together with the availability of its source code have contributed to its popular use in various fields, especially in educational and academic institutions. Recently the usage has remarkably increased with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and others and its growing usage is attracting significant attention. NEC has introduced operation check data on Linux on NEC Express5800 Series in response to the needs of customers who want to employ the OS or configure the Linux systems.

In recent years, along with the spread of the Internet, the introduction of Linux in the areas of network servers in schools and businesses has been increasing. In addition, the user requirements of using Linux with superior performance and high stability are remarkably increasing. To cope with these user demands, NEC provides the "NEC Express5800 Linux Models" with Linux operations verified in advance to support users' Linux needs

Distribution software operation check

  • All NEC Express server are certified on RedHat Linux.
  • NEC checks basic operation such as installation and booting.
  • NEC Provides information for the machine which special setting is required by the customers.
  • A part of drives used for testing can be downloaded in this site.
