You need to create a RAID driver beforehand by another development environment.

* Making the driver -- Driver created in the steps below can be got from here.
  1. Download Ubuntu_10.04_LTS_05.30.zip the deiver package from LSI.
  2. Take out megaraid_sas-v00.00.05.30-src.tgz from the package.
  3. Execute the following comands in the 10.04.4(2.6.32-38) development environment.
    $ sudo -s
    # cd /usr/src
    # ln -s linux-headers-2.6.32-38 linux
    # tar zxvf megaraid_sas-v00.00.05.30-src.tgz
    # cd megaraid-sas-v00.00.05.30
    # make -C /lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/build/ M=`pwd`
  4. The megaraid_sas.ko will be created and stored in the USB storage.
* Installation
  1. When the installer starts up, go to the console by pressing ALT + F2, conduct the following command.
    $ sudo -s
    # unset LANG
  2. Connect the USB storage that contains the megaraid_sas.ko, check the drive letter of the USB storage (such as /dev/sde) by fdisk-l command. Below, I describe as /dev/sde.
  3. Execute the following comands.
    # mount /dev/sde1 /mnt
    # cp -f /mnt/megaraid_sas.ko /lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/megaraid/
    # modprobe megaraid_sas
    # umount /mnt
  4. Remove the USB storage.
  5. Return to the installer by pressing ALT + F7, continue with the installation. When "Installation Mashi complete" appears, don't restart and go to the console again with ALT + F2.
  6. Execute the following comands.
    # cd /lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/megaraid/
    # cp -f megaraid_sas.ko /target/lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/megaraid/
    # cd /target/boot
    # mkinitramfs -k -o initrd.img-2.6.32-38-generic
  7. Return to the installer by pressing ALT + F7, restart the system.
  8. Log in to Ubuntu, implement the following, and then restart the system once.
    $ sudo update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.32-38-generic

You need to change the SATA mode to "AHCI" to recognize the HDD.
  1. Start the BIOS SETUP Menu by pressing the F2 key when the POST.
  2. Go into [Advenced]-[Storage Configuration], change [SATA Mode] to "AHCI Mode".
In this configuration, the value of the HDD capacity becomes different from product specifications by some bug. We avoid this by setting the kernel parameter libata.ignore_hpa = 0. Please carry out both the "Installation Steps" and "Post-Installation Steps" below.

* Installation Steps
  1. If two icons appear at the bottom of purple background, press the Esc key immediately.
  2. Press the F6 key in the screen of the installation menu.
  3. When you see a menu box in the bottom right, do nothing but press the Esc key.
  4. Start-up parameters will be displayed at the bottom, add the strings "libata.ignore_hpa = 0" and enter.
  5. Continue the installation.
* Post-Installation Steps
  1. Edit /etc/default/grub as follows:.
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="libata.ignore_hpa=0"
  2. Reflect the changes.
    $ sudo update-grub
  3. Turn off the power once.
    $ sudo halt -p
  4. When you turn on the power, HDDs be recognized by the correct amount.
    ex. $ sudo parted /dev/sda -s print

Updating the LAN drivers

*On Board LAN Controller( tg3: -> 3.122n )
  1. Download linux-3.122n.zip the driver for BCM5718 from Broadcom.
  2. Copy the driver package to /tmp.
  3. Execute the following comands.
    # cd /tmp
    # unzip linux-3.122n.zip
    # cd Server/Linux/Driver
    # tar zxvf tg3-3.122n.tar.gz
    # cd tg3-3.122n/
    # make
    # make install
    # modprobe -r tg3
    # modprobe tg3
  4. Update the initrd image.
    ex. # mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-28-generic
  5. Reboot and configure networking.
