NEC's cloud-computing solutions will pave the way to the future. C&C Cloud aims for much more than just efficiency and cost-cutting. The quest for mobility that is safe and puts minimum strain on the environment is one shared by cities all around the world.

Information is shared in real time from car-to-car and between car and road. This helps to avoid crashes, and makes possible a comfortable eco-drive experience.

In order to create an eco-friendly society, use of sustainable energy and efficient use of energy is indispensable.

A smart grid system can oversee the efficient distribution of energy involving EV batteries, home solar-power generators and regular electricity, reaching every part of the city, regulating energy consumption and considerably reducing CO2 emission levels.

C&C Cloud will contribute to the realization of a "New Energy Society" that makes patterns of energy-use more visible and offers users advice on how to keep energy consumption to a minimum.

To realize this New Energy Society, NEC is developing a high-performance lithium-ion battery with Nissan Motor, and is involved in the installation of infrastructure to recharge electric vehicles with JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation. NEC is also participating in a Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' project.

Additionally, NEC is working with Yamato Transport to develop a safe eco-navigation system called "See-T Navi".

With an aging population, we need to create a society in which the elderly can live healthily and independently. By using a cloud-based diagnostic support system, even a doctor practicing in a small town can conduct advanced medical examinations by making use of images of affected areas of a patient's body. In order to make this dream to reality, NEC has joined forces with Massachusetts General Hospital in the U.S. to develop a medical-image examination support system. C&C Cloud makes it possible to bring cutting-edge medical examinations to even the smallest towns in Japan and the rest of the world at a modest cost, creating happier and healthier lives.

We are helping in the move toward a society where everyone is easily able to access various information. The C&C Cloud system is fulfilling the vital role of bridging the digital divide.

Many local authorities have adopted Cloud-based systems to innovate processes such as residence registry and other administrative services. In the Okitama district of Yamagata Prefecture, NEC already supports the joint use of twelve service systems by four wards and three towns. These municipalities share systems to manage resident information, tax records, and finance and accounting. Thanks to the Cloud, maintenance operation costs are slashed, work load of the staff is lowered, which allows them to use their time and resources to enhance the services provided to residents.
