Movie script

Introduction
[Interview: Mr. Arild Hustad, CEO, Network Norway]

Network Norway 3rd carrier in Norway, Combined 1.1 million subscribers in Norway, market share of 18%. Revenues of 4.5m NKN.
Network Norway has existed for 5 years, and consists of 3 brands. We have 50 joint ventures with Tele2.

CHALLENGES
[Interview: Mr. Geir Lovnes, CTO, Network Norway]

Main challenge is spots where poor coverage, experience dropped calls. As they rely on mobile only it’s not good enough for them.

[Interview: Mr. Arild Hustad, CEO, Network Norway]
With modern buildings like the one we sit in here, with glass you find reflection of the signal, typically that creates poor indoor coverage. And I think that that is always in the mind of the consumer, but also in the mind of the business users. Coverage is important.

[Interview: Mr. Geir Jenssen, Head of Femtocells, Network Norway]
For customers every missed call is a missed business opportunity

SOLUTIONS
[Interview: Mr. Naoki Iizuka, President & CEO, NEC Europe]

NEC’s Femtocell solution provides telecom operators like Network Norway with an efficient way to provide good voice and data coverage using their existing internet connections.

[Interview: Mr. Geir Lovnes, CTO, Network Norway]
When we looked for a partner who had a working solution there were different possibilities, different vendors in this area but as far as we could see no one had come as far as NEC, in this respect at that time.

[Interview: Mr. Roy Nyheim, Sales Director, NEC Scandinavia]
Femto product fits in everywhere.
Allows operators to provide good coverage indoors like they have outside. From the customer point of view the product is like a plug and play device.

[Interview: Mr. Naoki Iizuka, President & CEO, NEC Europe]
As well as the Femtocell hardware NEC also provides network control platform systems and operating services, giving operators a complete end to end solution.

TECHNOLOGY
[Interview: Mr. Naoki Iizuka, President & CEO, NEC Europe]

Femtocells provide 3G mobile coverage over a range of 10 to 20 metres allowing mobile users to make uninterrupted mobile calls and run data rich applications on their smartphones and mobile devices. Self configuring and self organising design of Femtocells means that for the end user the installation process is incredibly simple and requires no additional infrastructure as mobile back haul is over customer’s internet connection.

[Interview: Mr. Geir Lovnes, CTO, Network Norway]
Currently it’s using the traditional 2.1GHZ 3G spectrum. It has the same security as any other traditional 3G network.

BENEFITS
[Interview: Mr. Rolf Olsen, IT Manager, Sandvik]

Our building here outside Oslo is a new building. We have medium to bad mobile coverage in the upper three floors, and in the lower two floors we have absolutely no connection.

[Interview: Mr. Roar Nordrum, Service Director, Sandvik]
Normally when the customer calls me they have a problem, the machinery doesn’t work and you know and so they are really not so happy, and they have a big problems to reach me. So they are more unhappy because of that so of course it makes my day really hard sometimes.

[Interview: Mr. Rolf Olsen, IT Manager, Sandvik]
The cost for the other solutions, the repeater will be about 250,000 NOK, the solution for the Femtocells was almost for free.

[Interview: Mr. Geir Jenssen, Head of Femtocells, Network Norway]
System gives customers perfect coverage and allows them to place calls.
Easy to install and affordable in comparison with alternatives.
Unique solution as allows us to attract any new customer.
