Low SHF band-compatible Active Antenna System (AAS) 5G field trial [3:05]

Overview

Creation of various new services through the network is expected by 5G. NEC and NTT DOCOMO are conducting field trials for the early commercialization of 5G. This field trial employed the low-SHF band-compatible AAS which developed by NEC to verify the precision of beam forming technology.
In the trials, NEC proved that use of the AAS can result in improved capacity and quality of communication between a base station and handsets, while confirming that spectral efficiency was reliably maintained at a level roughly eight times higher than that achieved by LTE in indoor environments.
