Raising the bar of accuracy on climate change prediction

Q:

What are your expectations of information technology and supercomputing in the years ahead?

Dr. Emori:
Dr. Seita Emori

As a researcher, I expect increase in computing power.
For example, greater computing power and finer grids will enable the modeling of complex cloud changes over a long term. This in turn will lead to breakthroughs like understanding hurricanes under global warming conditions.

At the same time, the amount of data output from calculations is approaching the hundreds of terabyte level (Tera: 1,000,000,000), so I also expect to see advances in storage.
