Biodiversity Preservation Activity at Sites

At NEC, its employees and their family members are participating in biodiversity preservation activities through events such as observing living organisms at sites and areas around them.

Activities in Headquarters and Tamachi Area

Shiba Park (Minato Ward, Tokyo)

In cooperation with Green Works, a nonprofit organization, NEC is active in sponsoring nature observation events on biodiversity, in the cleaning of Shiba Park located next to the NEC headquarters building, in looking after flowerbeds in the park and in other activities twice each year and during lunchtime.

Areas designated for preservation of the historical environment of water for prevention of prairie fires (Kodaira City, Tokyo)

The employees of NEC and their family members are participating in the "Tokyo Greenship Action," an activity undertaken cooperatively among the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, enterprises and NPOs, to gain experience in learning the importance of protecting the natural environment while enjoying the activity.
The activity in the areas designated for preservation of the historical environment of water for prevention of prairie fires has been undertaken since 2005.

The event in FY 2012 was cancelled due to a typhoon.

Assisted by knowledgeable persons, a survey of living organisms near the NEC headquarters building was undertaken to study the relationship between the NEC headquarters building and the ecosystem near it. Thirty persons from the department in charge of maintenance of the building and areas around it as well as employees of companies related to NEC participated in the survey. A variety of knowledge was acquired including the types of birds and insects that gather in which seasons and their foods and feeds.

Activities in Fuchu Area

Activity for conservation of green area in Higashi Toyoda (Hino City, Tokyo)

The employees of NEC and their family members are participating in the "Tokyo Greenship Action," an activity undertaken cooperatively among the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, enterprises and NPOs, to gain experience in learning the importance of protecting the natural environment while enjoying the activity. The activity for conservation of green area in Higashi Toyoda has been undertaken since 2007.

Activity for conservation of green area in Sengenyama (Fuchu City, Tokyo)

Musashinokisuge daylily that is growing in profusion only in this one place in the whole of Japan inhabits the Sengenyama Park in Tokyo. NEC's employees and their family members are participating in an activity to preserve Satoyama (village-vicinity mountain).

Activities in Abiko Area

Abiko plant (Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture)

At the Abiko plant, events to observe living organisms in four ponds and other areas located inside the plant are sponsored receiving support from the members of the Teganuma Pond Aquatic Life Research Group. The Abiko plant is also undertaking an activity to protect endangered species of dragonflies. About four events will be sponsored per year tuned to the four seasons.
