Before restoring a paddy field in ravine of Kamiota district additionally beginning FY 2012, the condition of a fallow rice field in FY 2011 and living organisms throughout the four seasons after starting restoration of the rice paddy in FY 2012 were surveyed to check changes in living organisms before and after restoration. Survey of the amount of feed for crested ibis

A crested ibis is estimated to eat about 75 kg of feed in a year. A decision was made to periodically survey the amount of feed for crested ibises in restored rice paddies so that they can live in these rice paddies. The amount of feed found in a survey in FY 2012 was 1.5 g/m2 compared with the target of 4 g/m2, showing that it was exceedingly short of the amount required for crested ibises to live in them. Efforts will continuously be made in the future to restore paddy field in ravine by building an environment for the inhabitation of crested ibises such as creating biotopes and grassland.
