Community contribution activities for new employee training (Updated May 20)

On April 12, 2013, NEC, in cooperation with Green Works, a nonprofit organization, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association, an affiliated organization of Tokyo Metropolitan Government, carried out CSR training for new employees entering the company in fiscal 2013. The training was centered on social contribution and environmental preservation activities.
After studying NEC's approach to CSR, the new employees were divided into 17 teams and took an excursion to Shiba Park in Minato Ward where NEC's head office is located. Here they learned about the history of the area from a local storyteller and partook in cleanup and maintenance activities, including weeding and planting in the Biodiversity Garden in which NEC has been involved since 2011. It is hoped that through these activities, new employees will understand the importance of contributing to the local community and become motivated to set and reach their own goals for helping to solve the problems we are currently facing as a society.
