Cheer Up Japanese Agriculture with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Business (Updated January 24)

On Thursday, January 12, 2012, a dialogue with an invited speaker, Mr. Daisuke Mitsuoka who is a participant of the FY2011 "NEC Social Entrepreneurship Schools" and working to establish a business model for locally produced and consumed organic vegetables, was held at NEC Headquarters building.

NEC Group employees joined the dialogue and actively exchanged expertise, advice and marketing concepts.

MDD Activity Campaign Months: October to December (Updated January 10)

Every year, we have three months campaign for “NEC Make-a-Difference Drive (MDD)” from October to December. NEC's Chairman Yano and President Endo participate in MDD collection programs, "UNICEF Foreign Coin Donation" and "Support for Bookmobile in Disaster Area by Selling Books (Used Book Collection Program)".

[UNICEF Foreign Coin Donation]
NEC supports health, nutrition, water, hygiene, and education for developing countries through the activities of the Japan Committee for UNICEF in the drive to protect the life and sound development of children in these countries.
Foreign coins collected by volunteers are sent to the Japan Committee for UNICEF, and help children in developing countries in the following ways.

  1. Coins are sorted by country of origin.
  2. The Japan Committee for UNICEF works with five private companies to send the coins to foreign countries.
  3. The coins are exchanged into US dollars in these countries and deposited in a Japan Committee for UNICEF account.
  4. Ten US dollars, for example, can buy 500 vitamin A capsules that will help prevent vision loss.
[Support for Bookmobile in Disaster Area by Selling Books (Used Book Collection Program)]
As part of Reconstruction Support for Tohoku, NEC “TOMONI” Project, this activity collects books for “Support for Bookmobile in Disaster Area (Tohoku) by Selling Books” conducted by Bookoff Corporation, Ltd.
Bookoff Corporation, Ltd. promotes a program to donate the same amount of money they spent to buy used books so that people in the disaster area can buy new books they want to read.

MDD Magazine 2011 (Updated October 12)

MDD Magazine 2011

NEC has released its “MDD Magazine 2011” which discloses NEC Make-a-Difference Drive 2010 for reporting to our stakeholders.

The NEC Make-a-Difference Drive is a voluntary community involvement program in which NEC Group employees have participated since 1999. For MDD 2010, we had a record 174,478 participants involving 3,887 different programs, dedicating 153,871 hours, at 956 NEC Group locations in 29 countries around the world.

Report on Ishinomaki Recovery Volunteer Relief Effort (Updated October 12)

On September 16 and 17, 2011, twenty six NEC Group employees participated in the relief efforts organized by the Peace Boat Emergency Relief Operation at Obuchihama Fishing Harbor, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, and cleaned up the fishing gear debris and ship parts buried under the sludge caused by the tsunami.

NEC Group will continue supporting the Tohoku recovery.

<Reconstruction Support for Tohoku> NEC “TOMONI” Project Started (Updated September 26)

NEC Group started NEC “TOMONI“ Project to support reconstruction for Tohoku as part of social contribution activities, and all NEC Group members work together to unit hopes for the disaster sites and reconstruct Tohoku area with the slogan of this project.
We will continue the activity to deliver hopes and supports for Tohoku in cooperation with stakeholders.
