High School Sign Language Speech Contest in Japan

This contest is held every year by the Asahi Shimbun Social Welfare Organization to encourage the independent activities of high school students involved in learning sign language or in sign language club activities, and to popularize sign language and promote welfare activities.

Because NEC agrees with the goals of this contest, we have continuously given our support since the first contest (held in 1984).

In addition, every year at the main contest volunteer NEC employees have provided help at the venue.

Comments from Venue Volunteers

  • This was a good experience for me because I was able to spend a fulfilling day helping in this volunteer activity.
  • I was moved by the speeches of the high school students, and feel that I have achieved something by volunteering to help.
