NEC IT Lectures for Mothers Raising Children

Photo

When mothers reach a stage in child rearing where they can think about finding a job again, one of the barriers is IT skills.

Therefore, NEC is jointly sponsoring courses along with the NPO Niiza Child-raising Network and other local child-raising groups in which mothers can spend time learning IT skills to rejoin the work force. These courses are very popular with mothers because they include daycare services so that the mothers do not have to worry about their children.

NEC is also making strong efforts to hold these courses in areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake to help mothers find much needed work.

Furthermore, NEC is actively involved in the child-rearing Web map "Mapikon" enterprise that helps with the IT courses and helps mother who have taken the courses in their efforts at networking.

Comments from Participants

  • I am more confident in my PC skills which I was not good at, and would like to take some PC related qualification tests to help find a job.
  • I'm using a personal computer everyday at my new work place, and the spreadsheet skills that I learned are really helping.
  • I'm now able to create documents and address books for the kindergarten, my community and for myself.
