With the aim of becoming "a leading global company leveraging the power of innovation to realize an information society friendly to humans and the earth," in 2008, NEC established the"NEC Group Vision 2017."
In order to realize this vision, NEC is contributing to solving the diverse issues now facing society and the earth through business activities held in collaboration with our customers and other stakeholders based on thorough compliance. This is the "CSR Management" practiced by NEC.
The society around us is facing various issues including global warming and poverty. As members of society, it is now essential that all existing corporations contribute to the sustainable development of society through active efforts towards solving these issues.
With this in mind, NEC is collaborating with pioneering non-profit organizations (NPOs) and other partners in working to solve societal issues by unfurling a diverse array of social contribution projects around the world.
The "NEC Make-a-Difference Drive (MDD)" is one such example. Established in 1999 to mark our 100th anniversary, this project has harnessed the energy of, at present, a total of 1,070,000 employees in contributing as volunteers to supporting developing countries, educational activities, tree planting and a variety of other problem-solving projects. And through their volunteer work in contributing to local communities, NEC employees have helped greatly in developing a corporate consciousness that is community-based and highly social. In addition, participation in such efforts has also resulted in NEC employees who are more sensitive to the problems facing society, and therefore, has lead to the development of products and services that are plugged into societal needs.
NEC Group will continue contributing to local communities worldwide and working toward becoming a highly-regarded corporation. We at NEC look forward to your continuing support.
