The NEC C&C Foundation was established in 1985.
The goal of this foundation is to further develop the electronics industry, and contribute to the development of economic society and improve social life by encouraging and supporting pioneering activities and research activities in the fusion of information processing technology and communications technology (Computers and Communications: C&C).
The NEC Foundation of America was established in 1991 by NEC and its American subsidiary with an endowment of $10 million.
The foundation is promoting activities based on its philosophy, "In order to demonstrate the full potential of people, we shall make contributions to society through technological innovation." The field that is supported by this foundation is "technological development that helps the handicapped participate in society and support for use of such developments," and the foundation makes donations to U.S. non-profit organizations that are nationally influential.
