NEC's corporate R&D is carried out by NEC's R&D Unit and has a dual role: the introduction of cutting-edge research results into the product development cycle, and the creation of new technologies for the future. NEC's laboratories operate at a global level, with sites throughout the world.
NEC Europe's Research Laboratories, NEC Laboratories Europe, are based in Heidelberg (Germany) and Acton (UK). They consist of the two research divisions: Network Research and Software & Services Research. Research and development functions are integrated into the same organization to shorten the time to market of cutting-edge network technologies. The laboratories place special emphasis on solutions meeting the needs of NEC's European customers.
Our continual challenge is to accelerate the exploitation of research results in NEC's communication products and to strengthen NEC's European business through joint work with current and future NEC customers.
