IT solutions based on the NEC LX Series are more than simply technology. Our mission is to provide solutions that enable customers and partners to receive the greatest value from their IT investments by leveraging HPC technologies. We provide high quality professional services in the key areas like Software Services, Remote Resource Services and System Services. Based on our experience working with many applications, components, software and interconnects for years we select the right solution for you - ready for production.
The NEC LX Series' chain of successes is founded on NEC's Stuttgart Competence Center which for many years has not only been working closely with vendors such as Intel and AMD, but has also demonstrated intense commitment in the framework of European and worldwide research projects for further developing software and middleware for Linux clusters. NEC is an active member of the Open Source Cluster Applications Resource (OSCAR), for example, where it shapes the freely accessible administration software together with other industrial and research partners.
"The complete system including the OSCAR PRO software is now Intel Cluster Ready certified which enables users to immerse into High Performance Computing with less cluster expertise. By selecting a "certified" Intel Cluster Ready system and "registered" applications you can be confident they will work together, just as they should. Intel® Cluster Checker helps ensure that components continue to work together, delivering high quality and a lower total cost of ownership over the lifetime of the cluster. So you can start solving new problems sooner and decrease your total cost of ownership."
NEC can help with porting and migrating software across various platforms. With extensive experience working on the many variants of UNIX, including HP-UX, Solaris, and major versions of Linux, we also have in-depth knowledge of porting many software packages in the field of engineering and scientific research. Our software expertise includes chemistry, structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, crash analysis, weather and climate codes.
Software running on certain platforms may not be executing at their optimal performance potential. We assess performance characteristics and bottlenecks, evaluate opportunities for performance gains, and modify software to achieve the desired optimal performance. Additionally, we collaborate with third-party software providers to improve software functionality and performance, and change implementation and acceptance.
Most software was initially developed for a single processor (single-threaded), and not to utilize multiple processor capability. Our efforts will enable software to run effectively on MPP/cluster systems, as well as SMP systems. We have extensive experience in converting and working with ISV codes and customer codes in this regard.
With many years of benchmarking experience, NEC can frame and conduct comprehensive benchmarks on various systems in a multitude of configurations. We enable many proof-of-concept projects by verifying performance expectations required in different deployments.
